ON OCTOBER 20TH and 21TH 2016, THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE HEART OF THE JURA,
AT THE WINE-MAKING HIGHSCHOOL OF LONS-LE-SAUNIER (MONTMOROT).
The competition is registered by the secretary who is in charge of consumption. It is published in the Official Bulletin of Consumption, Competition and Repression of Frauds. The distinctions awardedat this competitionare permitted to appear on the wine’s label.
This competition is organized by the Oenophile and Tasting Association of the Jura.
It is open to national and international wines with a base of the Savagnin grape.

The objective of this competition is a worldwide promotion of the SAVAGNIN grapein all of its forms : ouillé, under veil, vin jaune, Château-Chalon, vin de paille, Crémant, Macvin, and any specialities containing at least 85 % of Savagnin.
There must be at least 1,000 L of wine available of the wine sample presented.
At least 100L for wines made in small quantity.
The entry fee is a very reasonable 40 € justto cover our costs.
PROMOTION
This competition concerns only Savagnin, an exceptional grape which produces white wines of large diversity of which the famous Château-Chalon who according to Curnonsky is one of the five best white wines of the world.
Even if this grape found its country and soil of preference in the Jura, we find it in small quantities in other countries as well.
In the region of Valais,in Switzerland, it is known under the name of Heathen or Heida.
Savagnin is registered in the catalog of varietals in Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, and farther in Australia.

PARTNERSHIP
The A.S.E. (Association of the Sommeliers of Europe) is chaired by Thierry CORONA, sommelier in Luxembourg, who is supporting this competition.
The first competition was sponsored by Brigitte Leloup, from ASE, and second competition was sponsored by Corinne Gaudron Van Beek, from ASE.
The know-how of these sommeliers and their knowledge of consumer tastes is an additional bonus in the quality of selection.
EXPERT’S JURY
Each jury table consists of wine professionals and competent wine tasters having done specific training in sensory analysis and tasting.
This representation takes into account the needs and requirements of consumers as well as the concerns of professionals.
BLIND TASTING
All wines are tasted blind. The bottles are returned anonymously. Producers are not allowed to evaluate their own wines.
3 MEDALS
Each jury is allowed to award 3 types of medals: Gold, Silver, or Bronze.
